After doing a few short docs with Diplo in Athens, GA and Austin, TX, we got a call to work with animator, Ferry Gouw, on the next video for Major Lazer (Diplo's new project with UK collaborator, Switch). The first vid, directed by Ferry, was nominated for break out video at the MTV VMA awards this year (go ferry!). "Keep it Goin' Louder" is the first single for the UK and is currently topping several charts.
You probably remember Nina Sky from their 2004 mega-hit, "Move Ya Body". They were a pleasure to work with, as was the eighteen year old dance hall prodigy, Ricky Blaze. In the video, Ricky and his boys are out for a typical night on the town, but their fun is thwarted when the club and everyone in it start turning against them. Recording artist, Chelly (also Ricky's girlfriend) plays the zombie seductress.
The live action portion was filmed on location in Brookyln's Studio B (RIP) and the footage was sent over to Ferry Gouw in London where he teamed up with animation studio, Trunk.
Our assistant director supervised (and edited) a behind the scenes shoot which was hosted by one of the craziest characters i've ever come across, Skerrit Bwoy. Check it out.
