"The song "Giving It All Away" is loosely about how many musicians and artists put in so much work for so little return. In a lot of ways you're giving away a part of yourself within each song and sometimes that is the reward. You feel better once it's written; once it's off your chest. The video version also hints at 'giving it all away' to a younger generation of musicians.
"The idea for the video came about while Walker, Brantley, Jason (the director) and I were brainstorming at The Globe here in Athens. We had several ideas for the video that involved kids. We had talked of having it look like a live show at the 40 Watt with the audience entirely made up of kids, and then have them storm the stage and take our instruments. But then we thought, 'How are we going to get that many kids?' Then Jason brought up the idea of us selling our organs and I thought it could be funny. We kind of took that idea and incorporated the kids as the surgeons (cause kids doing surgery is fun) and exchanged our organs for instruments, tapes, cables and other music related objects. It was all just a morph of that 'organ selling' idea.
"We filmed the video in one shoot on a sound stage in Atlanta. Everyone worked really hard (including the kids) to get it all done in a reasonable time frame. It was extremely hot, but extremely fun. We hope that the video conveys at least some of the songs message and hope it’s as fun to watch as it was to make." - Hardy Morris(Dead Confederate)
